Molecular Dissection for Boll Shedding in Upland Cotton Using Microsatellites

چکیده

DNA markers application in marker-assisted breeding of cotton is handicapped due to low genetic diversity germplasm. The present study was designed identify markers, predominately simple sequence repeats (SSRs), associated with tolerance/resistance heat stress as a consequence boll shedding. To find out the total 24 genotypes and 50 SSR primers were used. Total 288 alleles produced an average 5.7 per primer. Bootstrap cluster analysis used generate dendrogram that accessions into two main clusters. Eleven fall single cluster. Phenotypically H-4074 gives more diversity, while genotypically sheared same background H-4070, H-4091 H-4090. Low observed among both genotypic phenotypic maximum varieties group. This helps for selecting diverse multiple traits, which drought It suggests further elaborating molecular by using new marker improve yield cultivars. These preliminary results set stage initiating depth marker-trait association studies, will be instrumental cotton.

Combining ability analysis for within-boll yield components in upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.).

Cotton is an important cash crop worldwide, accounting for a large percentage of world agricultural exports; however, yield per acre is still poor in many countries, including Pakistan. Diallel mating system was used to identify parents for improving within-boll yield and fiber quality parameters. Combining ability analysis was employed to obtain suitable parents for this purpose. The parental ...

Genetic analysis of Upland cotton dynamic heterosis for boll number per plant at multiple developmental stages

Yield is an important breeding target. As important yield components, boll number per plant (BNP) shows dynamic character and strong heterosis in Upland cotton. However, the genetic basis underlying the dynamic heterosis is poorly understood. In this study, we conducted dynamic quantitative trait loci (QTL) analysis for BNP and heterosis at multiple developmental stages and environments using t...

Molecular diagnostic for boll weevil (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) based on amplification of three species-specific microsatellites.

The boll weevil, Anthonomus grandis grandis Boheman (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), is a serious pest of cultivated cotton, Gossypium hirsutum L., in the Americas, and reinfestation of zones from which they have been eradicated is of perpetual concern. Extensive arrays of pheromone traps monitor for reintroductions, but occasionally the traps collect nontarget weevils that can be misidentified by ...

QTL analysis for early-maturing traits in cotton using two upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) crosses

Making use of the markers linked closely to QTL for early-maturing traits for MAS (Marker-assisted selection) is an effective method for the simultaneous improvement of early maturity and other properties in cotton. In this study, two F2 populations and their F2:3 families were generated from the two upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) crosses, Baimian2 × TM-1 and Baimian2 × CIR12. QTL for ea...

Genetic dissection of upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) cultivars developed in Hubei Province by mapped SSRs.

The genetic diversity of 51 upland cotton cultivars with different parental origins and breeding periods that were developed in Hubei Province was studied on the basis of 237 mapped simple sequence repeat markers covering the cotton genome. A total of 108 polymorphic primer pairs amplified 196 loci; the polymorphism information content range was 0.04 to 0.83, with an average of 0.46. A model-ba...
